Movie Collection Preview #5 – Saiyan Charge

Physical Attack. DAMAGE: AT +3 stages. If your MP is level 3 or higher, banish an opponent's Setup. Some more love for Saiyan style today with another preview… but this new common doesn’t bring Saiyan power in the form of a massive beatdown, despite the card art potentially suggesting otherwise!

What Saiyan Charge does do is provide the style with more board control than it has had in previous sets. The hurdle to the card being useful is quite high, however. Early game, this is not a good draw. But Saiyan Charge might be well-suited to Main Personalities that can quickly level like Vegeta, Raditz and potentially Turles with his named Setup.

Saiyan Charge might not see much play, but it does help to provide more options for board control in Saiyan style decks, depending on your local meta environment.

Movie Collection Preview #4 – Saiyan Freedom

(Banish after use.) POWER: Search your Life Deck for a Named Setup and place it into play.
Saiyan Freedom

The style that’s received the least love in the way of Movie Collection – Set 3 previews so far is Saiyan. So without further ado, we’ve chosen to reveal a card that may go to help one of the new Saiyan Main Personalities, plus others from Set 2.

Saiyan Freedom will hopefully give Raditz and Turles some freedom.

For our new Set 3 Main Personality, Turles, Saiyan Freedom helps set up your next Planning step to help advance Turles to his higher, more potent levels. Obviously once you use Turles’ named Setup you can’t enter combat, but this will potentially help you leverage a great turn after setting yourself up for a draw with cards like Saiyan Scouting, Saiyan Drive By and some yet to be previewed cards when you’re next drawing from your deck.

Or Saiyan Freedom might have more synergy with Raditz, to help you fetch his named Setup, which is great for getting rid of annoying setups like Visiting the Past. If you also use it while on Raditz Level 2, you’ll also mill your opponent’s deck, and gain an anger to get to his sweet Level 3.

While on face value, this card might seem a little underwhelming, in the right context it will work well with the intended Saiyan Main Personality stacks.

Movie Collection Preview #3 – Blue Surround

Physical attack. DAMAGE: 5 stages. HIT: Attach to your opponent's MP. While attached at the start of your opponent's Rejuvenation Step, your opponent destroys a Setup or Drill if he did not declare Combat that turn. Banish this card when your opponent changes levels.Time for another Movie Collection – Set 3 preview and today we want to show off a new Blue card that will help both aggressive and control variants with some board control.

Blue Surround is a great card that is going to fit into a few decks, and will play havoc with some of those players looking to sit on a personality level and gain board control. Except for the condition stated on the card, there aren’t currently that many cards capable of detaching it. So you’re going to cause those decks without any anger gain (we’re looking at you, SDCC Krillin!) some real pain.

And being Blue, even if you have a deck that wants to move levels you can work your magic on their anger to help stall their plans. Forcing them into combats that they might only have an average hand at best will make sure that you gain some form of advantage, whichever avenue they take.

If you team this with drills like Blue Biting Drill, you can even beef up some of the damage output from MPs that might stay around bracket A-C. We’re excited for the way they are taking Blue with more assistance to aggressive play styles. It should be interesting to see what new decks people come up with to show off the full range now available to Blue style.

Movie Collection Preview #2 – Orange Smash

Our Movie Collection preview card for today’s release is a great one for those people who have been waiting for a little more impact in their Orange Physical beatdown decks.

Orange Smash
Orange Smash

Orange Smash has a fairly decent damage output, up there with a modifier of +4. The personalities I have heard people talk about for Orange in this fashion are Nail, God Goku, Vegeta and quite possibly Turles. With the exception of God Goku, with all of these MPs starting in bracket B a boost to damage is a blessing. Added to buffs that can be created through either the personality powers or drills, it can land some tough punches that will have most opponents sitting at 0 quickly.

The part that I like is banishing your drills to bring them back at the end of combat. If you tie this in with Orange Torching Drill it can add to the mill you create. It can also help protect some of those drills that you may require, by having a way to bring them back and not be targeted in the field by your opponent’s effects.

This card builds on an aspect of Orange that a lot of players of the Old Z game have been wanting to explore, with physical beatdown. Teaming it with Nail, using this card in combat with Orange Uppercut moving into Nail’s Dashing Attack you’re starting to hit for some big number of stages. Come back tomorrow when we will preview a new Blue card that will help more aggressive Blue builds deal with passive board control decks even more.

Movie Collection Preview #1 – Lord Slug and Black Spin Kick

Without further ado, here are the card images for the Movie Collection previews spoiled on the first episode of TAK Talk last night. Some nice recursion from a rather Amazed Lord Slug in Ally form, but Black counters with a massive amount of ally hatred in Black Spin Kick. Very much a fan of the HIT Anger gain effect on Black Spin Kick – looks like slime Black Anger has received some new weapons in Set 3!

Power: Place the top 3 Styled Events in your discard pile at the bottom of your Life Deck. Shuffle "Lord Slug" into your Life Deck.
